Before my first trip, I pictured celebrities hiding behind oversized sunglasses, endless palm trees, and enough green juice to power an entire state.
To be fair? I wasn’t entirely wrong. But what I discovered was a city that’s part luxury playground, part beach town, part creative hub, and part beautiful chaos. Los Angeles isn’t a place you simply visit.

Your Los Angeles experience begins at Los Angeles International Airport. LAX is exactly what you’d expect from one of the busiest airports in the world.

The airport itself is modern and well-connected, but the real introduction to Los Angeles happens the moment you leave the terminal. Traffic. Lots of traffic. The kind of traffic that makes you question every life decision that led you to sit on a freeway moving five miles per hour. Consider it part of the local culture. You’ll get used to it. Eventually.

Let’s clear something up immediately. Los Angeles is not a walking city.
Well…
Certain neighborhoods are. The city as a whole is not. A rental car is your best friend here. You’ll have the freedom to move between Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and all the hidden gems scattered across the city. Uber and Lyft work well too, but costs add up quickly when you’re crossing town multiple times a day. Public transportation exists. That’s the nicest thing I’ll say about it.
